Where Health Policy Meets Health Information Systems
We study how policy shapes the design and use of health IT, and how those systems can be leveraged to improve care quality — at scale, with rigor.

Focus Areas
Our work spans three interconnected areas where policy, technology, and care delivery intersect.
We partner with health systems to rigorously evaluate the impact of EHR changes, clinical decision support tools, and other programs on key care delivery outcomes using quasi-experimental methods.
We analyze the effectiveness of federal, state, and local health IT policies — examining how regulation and incentives shape EHR configuration, clinician behavior, and downstream care quality.
We leverage the “digital exhaust” generated by clinicians’ EHR use to construct novel measures of teamwork, workload, and workflow — capturing constructs that are otherwise nearly impossible to measure at scale.
